The obverse pictures the mature
head of Queen Elizabeth II, and the reverse depicts the coins' namesake: the Australian
kangaroo.
This series originally portrayed an Australian gold nugget on the reverse, but
from 1989 on it has had a different depiction of the kangaroo on its reverse every year.
These 24 karat coins come in $100, $50, $20, $10 and $5 denominations,
weighing, respectively:
